It’s been a while since we’ve discussed the debacle of Game of Thrones season 8. I sometimes still think about it to myself while driving and its still hard to fathom. After deciding to ignore all of your awful suggestions of what to compare our franchises to, I decided Game of Thrones would be the perfect way to tell you all how bad your team is. I will not be tiering our teams as it would look like teams (2–12) in a tier and myself in another so i’ll save the time.

Cheers

12. Mike Altbaum (2–7)- Ned Stark

Mike after beating Hallahan last week

Once upon a time Abaum was a real threat. Early on in the HDL’s existence, Mike was making championship runs and seemed as if he would be around for a long time. Very quickly however, things changed. To everyone’s surprise Mike was separated from his co-owner/beheaded. He was the first main character to die and he has not been reincarnated quite yet. Give it a year or two and Mike could be taking after his supposed bastard son and come back from the dead to threaten us all.

biggest surprise- Courtland Sutton- Right now sitting at WR14 and averaging 15.7 PPG. Sutton has talent but is on one of the worst offenses in the league and it is impressive he’s putting up quality numbers with not so quality QB play.

biggest disappointment- O.J Howard- Yikes. This guy is bad. There was a lot of hype on Howard this year in a new “high powered” offense. While Godwin and Evans have lived up to the hype, Howard has fell short to say the least. Hes currently TE41 and has failed to even put up 10 points in a single week.

11. Ian/ Mike (2–7)- Tommen Baratheon

Ian’s season

Ian and Mike as we all know came into the league late. Tommen was around early on but didn’t emerge as an actual character until a few years in. When they came into the HDL we were excited for a fresh new start and someone maybe a little more active than Galante, just as we were excited for a new king to take over for Joffrey. Very soon after however, we immediately missed the old owner/character. All of our expecations were let down for both Ian and Tommen. We sit patiently and wait for them to do something, but neither do anything of relevance. Now we deal with the subpar performance and mediocre ownership of this HDL franchise.

Biggest surprise- Austin Hooper. TE1 averaging 18.6 PPG and been very consistent every week only posting <13 PPG once all year

Biggest disappointment- Rashaad Penny. Penny is looking worthless at this point. There was still hope he could compete in Seattle’s backfield but those days are over. RB68 and only one week with more than 7 PPG.

10. Head (2–7)- Theon Greyjoy

Head realizing his season is over

Head is a real nice guy deep down and has a big heart. He however just can’t seem to do anything right. The moves he makes usually backfire and we’re all left on a rollercoaster guessing if his team will be good or bad. Theon is similar. We feel bad for him, but then hate him the next episode. When Head made the Leveon Bell trade is when Theon turned on the Starks. We all wanted him dead forever. Soon after though, we forgave him and he redeemed himself. Now he’s kind of just irrelevant and a declining franchise/character.

Biggest surprise- Desahun Watson- This isn’t a huge surprise but no one on this team is doing much good. I figured Watson would be good this year but right now he looks dominant. QB2 avg 28.8 PPG

Biggest disappointment- Damien Williams- Head had really high expectations for Williams and despite having a good game last week, Williams is doing virtually nothing. RB37

9. Calhoun (3–6)- Khal Drogo

The least cool gif i could find of Drogo/Momoa

This is a similar situation to Mike and Ned. Calhoun once looked like an absolute powerhouse. We thought he was going to be the last man standing for a long time but was shockingly killed off. Calhoun slowly bled out a little bit at a time. As his team got older and no moves were made he was killed right before our eyes. We questioned for a while whether he was really dead or if he would make a miraculous comeback because he once was so strong. The reality in fact is Calhoun is never coming back. He’s dead and buried far across the Narrow Sea.

Biggest surprise- Carlos Hyde- Hyde certainly isnt doing great, but while his career looked like it was shot, hes actually putting up decent numbers. RB26 11.1 PPG

Biggest disappointment- Odell Beckham- WR24 is not gonna cut it. Baker is not good and the high expecatations are not being met.

8. Sarlo/Hark (4–5)- Robb Stark

Sarlo reading the injury report every week

Remember when Sarlo was continuously power ranked in the top 3? We all thought he was an actual threat to the teams at the top but in reality was never really close. Sarlo had a lot of hype on him, some even referred to him as the young, drunk in a pool, wolf. He made some good moves and seemed like his strategy was eventually going to pay off. Every year however injuries and disappointment stabs him in the heart. He is now dead and never coming back. It was a surprise to many of us but reality has set in and we all know theres no hope for this team.

Biggest surprise- Darren Waller- There were a few people that saw Waller having a nice year but he’s been fantastic. TE3 15.8 PPG

Biggest disappointment- Joe Mixon- I really thought Mixon would have a good year. He’s done nothing. RB36 avg 10 PPG

7. Marino (5–4) Stannis Baratheon

Marino not sure if he should be happy or mad being 5–4

Is there a more “meh” character in Game of Thrones than Stannis? He has no personality, and never viewed as a serious threat to anyone. There was a time when he came on strong and you began to think maybe, just MAYBE, he will be relevant in the big picture of everything. To no ones surprise however, he fell short and remained irrelevant to the main characters in the show. No one really hates Marino as no one really hated Stannis. Every once in a while Marino will visciously burn someone and we are all surprised at how ruthless he can be, similar to Stannis burning his own daughter to death. Marino will do whatever it takes to win although I don’t think hes discovered what that recipe is yet.

Biggest surprise- Tyler Lockett- WR2. 20.9 PPG. No one saw that coming.

Biggest disappointment- Dante Pettis- There were rumors Pettis was phasing out of the WR picture in SF and they were true. Hes been god awful sitting at WR102 avg 4.3 PPG

6. Chris Black (5–4) Daario Naharis (New)

Chris being way too cocky coming into this season

Chris came on to the scene as a late owner in the HDL. We all know he had no role under Falcone’s dictatorship. When he took over for Cleve however, he looked like a serious threat. There was mixed reviews on whether we liked the old Daario (Cleve) or the new Daario (chris) but I think most of us quickly came to a consensus. The original was clearly superior. Chris quickly turned his championship caliber team into a non-factor. Chris was once sleeping with the rightful queen of the seven kingdoms and viewed as a vitally important piece to the storyline. He was suddenly left behind, completely forgotten, and never talked about again.

Biggest surprise- Julian Edelman- Its hard to rely on anyone from NE’s offense for fantasy bc its so unpredictable but Edelman has broken that stigma. He’s been great this year WR7 avg 17.8 PPG

Biggest disappointment- Antonio Brown- Is there a bigger disappointment not only to fantasy but to humanity as Antonio Brown? Guy belongs in a mental institution.

5. Billy/Ryan (4–5) Bran Stark

Billy being 4–5 despite being 5th in PF

Billy is pretty unlucky to be 4–5 right now. His team is actually looking pretty strong. We never viewed Billy as a threat as he came in as a young pup and didn’t show any signs as to why he should be taken seriously. However, as time goes on he is showing potential to becoming a factor. Billy did nothing when he took over. He made no moves. Bran did nothing early on as well. He literally couldn’t move. Regardless of not making any moves or doing anything to earn relevance, the pieces fell into place and here we are. He would continuously talk about his destiny and how we would all see him drinking from a mug in due time. Bran apparently believed the same thing as he shockingly became king. Could this be the year we are all stunned with Billy being the last man standing?

Biggest surprise- Austin Ekler- Ekler is actually better Gordon. Bpou was right although he sold Ekler anyway. RB4 20.8 PPG

Biggest disappointment- Nkeal Harry- Harry has been hurt so its tough to say hes a total disappointment, but there were reports of him struggling early in camp and getting nothing from the 1.02 sucks.

4. Bpou/Milzy (5–4) Littlefinger

Bpou after being better than we all expect every year

Bpou is a sneaky little fucker. Every year we expect nothing from him but out of nowhere he surprises us all and is at the top of the mountain. He does everything to benefit himself and his moves seem like they always work out. No matter how powerless he can feel sometimes, Bpou always has a bigger plan and usually outsmarts everyone else. We definitely don’t like this guy, but we respect him and the threat he poses. Bpou wouldn’t hesitate pushing Milzy through the “moon door” if it benefited his team and it’s chance of winning. He can’t be overlooked and will remain a threat for the eternity of this league.

Biggest surprise- DJ Chark- Idk if Chark is legit or not, but up to this point hes been stellar posting 17.2 PPG sitting at WR10

Biggest disappointment- Alvin Kamara- Kamara has been solid but I expected him to be RB1–3 this year. Right now hes sitting at RB21 and has missed a couple weeks due to injury. Bpou will need him at his best to make a run.

3. Hallahan/Scott (7–2) Jamie Lannister

Hallahan in trade negotiations

Hallahan, Scott and Jamie are cocky, annoying and we hate them. There’s no denying their skills however and they always remain a vital piece to the storyline. They are some of the most talented at what they do and have tasted how it feels being at the top. The more you get to know them however, the more you like them. Deep down theyr’re good guys, just competitive and like being the best. Their witty jokes can get under your skin but spending some one on one time with them, you will warm up. Don’t get too comfortable though. Although they may seem like your friends, they will turn on you in the blink of an eye, similarly to how Jamie did Brienne.

Biggest surprise- Cooper Kupp- There were several options to choose from here but Kupp has been the most surprising. I figured he could be solid but hes going insane. WR4 22.8 PPG

Biggest disappointment- Juju- Juju has been a pretty big disappointment this year. We were expecting a huge year from him and right now hes avg a mere 12.6 PPG sitting at WR33.

2. Falcone (7–2) Daenarys Targaryen

Falcone after fleecing everyone

Falcone started off as a weak, small girl. After just a few years however, he became one of, if not the most powerful forces in all of Westeros/HDL. Falcone is a straight powerhouse. He has dragons at all positions on his roster. It looked like there was no way Falcone would ever be stopped and he would continue to be a dynasty for years and years to come. To everyone’s surprise however, Falcone was vulnerable. Deep down, Falcone is an evil dictator and wants the worst for everyone but himself. He has lost a strong portion of his forces and doesn’t seem to be as dominant as he once was, however he is still a serious threat. There is no denying that if the other franchises dont stay focused he could take over and dominate for a long, long time.

Biggest surprise- Terry Mclaurin- No one expected Mclaurin to come onto the scene as a rookie with the QB play in Washington as bad as it is. He’s been a pleasant surprise sitting at WR18

Biggest disappointment- Todd Gurley- It looks like the Gurley concerns were legit. He’s just not what he was. RB26 AVG 14.2 PPG

1. Troy (8–1) Jon Snow

Troy coming back to life after leaving Mike

Troy lived under the shadows of his older brother in the beginning of his career. The young bastard was looked at as inferior to his older, stronger brother. The reality however is there’s virtually no stopping this powerhouse. Troy was the real threat coming from that family. He has come up from the bottom and worked his way into the most dominant force in the world. He is fair to everyone and does everything with honor and respect. Now everyone has to watch and root for Troy to succeed to take down the evil powerhouses that exist at the top. The King in the North.

Biggest surprise- CMC- It’s not a surprise that CMC is good but hes a walking cheat code. He could have the best fantasy season in history. RB1 avg 33.2 PPG

Biggest disappointment- Baker Mayfield- I bought into the hype like an idiot. I thought he was in for a big year. Baker sucks. The Browns suck. Go Cowboys. QB23 14.3 PPG
